Responsibilities

The Tokyo office is seeking a junior US‑track associate to support an expanding pipeline of US law matters originating in Japan. This role is critical to ensuring seamless client service and delivering the high standard of work expected by our global and Japan-based clients. The associate will work closely with partners and senior lawyers in Tokyo on a range of US law–related corporate, regulatory, investigation, and litigation‑adjacent matters.

 

  • Assist with SEC and EDGAR matters, including obtaining EDGAR codes and coordinating SEC filings on the ground.
  • Provide support on investigations and litigation‑related matters.
  • Work on US corporate and cross‑border transactional matters involving Japan-based clients.

Qualifications / Person Specification

  • We are seeking a US qualified lawyer with 1-3 years of experience.
  • Fluent in English and Japanese language skills are mandatory.
  • The candidate must have obtained a JD or LL.M. from a reputable US law school.
  • Prior work or academic experience in Japan.
  • The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial and a self-starter, with the desire to progress to partnership down the line.
