Responsibilities

  • Provide pricing and financial analysis support to Partners, Business Development and other Firm personnel in relation to matter and client level RFPs.
  • Support the Firm’s Legal Project Management initiatives across Asia, specifically functional support for the Firm's matter management system and processes.
  • Assist management, practice group leadership and client teams in understanding client and matter economics through the production, interpretation and provision of management and financial analysis and insight.
  • Monitor the performance of regional client level agreements and initiate reviews on expiring arrangements with relevant stakeholders.

 

Work directly with Firm Partners and Business Development Teams to develop fee arrangement options in response to client RFP’s and ad-hoc requests. Prepare analysis to support proposed fee arrangements.

 

  • Model the financial impact and viability of proposed pricing arrangements for specific engagements and present matter economics to Partners and management personnel as part of fee approval process.
  • Assist in facilitating the approval of fee arrangements through relevant approving committees/personnel.
  • Provide post matter financial analysis and associated pricing and business insight to Partners, Pricing and Business Development teams.
  • Monitor the progress of deals against budgets through the lifecycle of significant projects.
  • Execute and maintain client-pricing agreements including assigning rates for new timekeepers along with ensuring that new matters are setup with the appropriate rate structures.
  • Other ad-hoc projects and reporting.

Qualifications / Person Specification

  • Degree in finance, accounting or business.
  • CPA, CIMA, ACCA or MBA qualification preferred.
  • Experience of working within a partnership environment, preferably a law firm.
  • Experience in professional services pricing, fee negotiation or project management, particularly with Disputes, Energy, Project Finance and M&A transactions, is advantageous.
  • Extensive experience working in fast paced dynamic environment specifically within broader finance and accounting team in the professional services industry;
  • Adept at creating, developing and maintaining financial models, preferably in a pricing context.
  • Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products, particularly strong Excel ability. Prior experience of using SQL to collate, cleanse and interpret datasets is a distinct advantage.
  • Project Management skills are essential, able to manage multiple projects at one time and prioritise as necessary.
  • Knowledge of a multi-currency financial systems commonly used in the legal industry, preferably Aderant Expert.
