Responsibilities

  1. Knowledge Strategy
  • Work with the Knowledge Partner(s),  Regional Director of Knowledge Management, the other Professional Support Lawyers whose support globally relates to Finance issues, to assess the knowledge needs of the Group and for the coordination of cross-Practice efforts that relate to Finance
  • Define and implement a plan to meet those needs that is aligned with the business goals of the Group, and mechanisms for regular review of the plan
  • Operations and innovation.  Proactively seek ways to improve  service and efficiency and contribute to best practices
  • Systems. Support and drive adoption of Knowledge systems. Take ownership of delivery. Schedule one-on-one meetings and presentations to promote Knowledge systems
  • Strategy, alignment and integration. Understand and promote the Group's business and Knowledge plans. Structure time and priorities in accordance with the Group's business and Knowledge plans and provide input into them

  1. Organising and Sharing: Standard Forms and Document Collections
  • Work with Group members, and others, to create and capture Finance -related knowledge content and encourage the sharing of information and knowledge generally, and to coordinate with other Practices to encourage and implement consistency across Practices in relation to Finance issues and policies
  • Create and maintain a well-organised electronic collection of practice-related knowledge resources, which include in particular Finance standard forms and accompanying notes, precedent documents, best practices and how-to memos, legal memos and other materials useful to the Group
  • Help the Knowledge Department generally to tailor the Firm’s knowledge resources to meet the needs of the Group.

  1. Current Awareness and Thought Leadership
  • Monitor and keep the Group informed about important developments in the law or business environment
  • Prepare regular current awareness newsletters for the Group
  • Work with the librarians to determine the Group's resource requirements and to implement processes regarding practice-related current awareness and alerts from internal and external sources.

  1. Lawyer Training and Technical Expertise
  • Work with the Group and the Learning and Development team to identify practice-related training needs of the Group; and, building on existing training programs, organise, design and deliver (personally or with others) Group training, including seminars, workshops and offsite training
  • Train Group members how to access knowledge resources on GlobalNet and elsewhere

  • Provide direct support to individual practitioners to assist them with locating practice-related internal and external knowledge resources
  • Respond to ad hoc enquiries from lawyers with on-point, thorough and timely answers. Develop a reputation as a go-to expert
  • Be a source of legal, market and practical expertise for all members of the Group, including the provision of direct support for client matters.

  1. Practice Group Pages on GlobalNet
  • Develop and maintain the knowledge-related aspects of the Group’s GlobalNet site(s).

  1. Matter Management and Collaboration
  • Work with the Group and Marketing Department to establish processes to capture matter descriptions and categorisations in our matter systems, and conduct post-matter review of lessons learned
  • Assist with setting up a process for collecting noteworthy sample documents.

  1. People and Relationship Information
  • Work with the Group to establish processes to capture and publish information about individuals (both internal and external) with specific knowledge and experience relevant to the Group’s business in the Firm’s dedicated CRM systems
  • Promote and identify ways to strengthen the Group's knowledge culture. Build lasting relationships throughout the firm through collaboration, mutual respect and a reputation for competence.  Advocate and be a positive spokesperson for Knowledge. Nurture relationships with trainees and junior lawyers.

  1. Other
  • Participate in the planning of training and other knowledge related activities
  • Participate in regular meetings of the Professional Support function and Knowledge Department and liaise with other PSLs to facilitate the sharing of best practice and knowledge
  • Attend external training and conferences to keep up-to-date with relevant developments in the law, business environment and professional support
  • Provide other knowledge support to the Group as may be assigned by the Knowledge Partner(s), or the Regional Director of Knowledge Management.

Qualifications / Person Specification

  • Singapore [and/or England & Wales] qualified
  • Minimum 12 years of sound legal experience relevant to the Group as an admitted practising lawyer in a law firm
  • Deep subject matter expertise on various aspects of Finance
  • Exceptional drafting skills.
  • Well - developed organisation and communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Pragmatic, self-motivated, flexible and good team worker
